Family Letter March 24th

Dear Families

I hope this finds you well and healthy in the confines of your homes as we navigate these unchartered waters. Please know, you have been in our thoughts and prayers and please let your children know how much we miss them.  In the coming weeks we will do our best to support you and your children in their learning and their well-being. In order to support students, the province has put out this resource:  https://www.ontario.ca/page/learn-at-home and as a local District we are looking at developing additional resources and e-learning platforms. More information will come. Classroom teachers will be in touch with all of you in the near future as we work to compile email lists, generate twitter accounts and/or create D2L platforms. In the meantime, there is no substitute for daily reading, writing, math fluency and exploration. Please be patient while learning at home. There is a lot of anxiety in these uncertain times and children pick up on that too. Have fun with your children, let them take the lead in what they are interested in and show your interest in that. Have them develop their communication skills (reading, writing, oral, visual) around their interests. Parents and caregivers are not expected to teach everything that would be done at school.

If you have not yet done so I urge you to sign up for email subscriptions to our school and board websites as that is how our District communicates. Our school website also enables you to see our twitter account if you do not follow us.

If you know of any families who may not be able to access any technology, I would ask that you advise us. Additionally, above all if you know any families who are in need of anything during these difficult times please let us know that as well. It is important to stay connected with one another. Our St. Patrick Family is one that is built on kindness, compassion and our faith.

Most importantly, stay safe, stay home, stay calm and be well. Together, let us pray:

Dear God, In these times of uncertainty may we remember that through you all things are possible. You will guide us, sustain us and strengthen us. Thank you for the gifts and blessings you bestow on us and thank you for the gift of time with our families and for this beautiful community. May we be strengthened by one another and please watch over and bless those who are sick and suffering as well as those who are called to serve in these times of strife. Amen

Thank you,
